The South African Furniture Initiative (SAFI) is the national industry association dedicated to advancing South Africa’s furniture manufacturing sector. As the implementing agent of the Furniture Industry Master Plan, SAFI works with industry, government and key stakeholders to build a globally competitive, innovative and sustainable furniture industry that creates jobs and drives economic growth. 

Representing businesses across the entire furniture value chain – from large manufacturers and recognised brands to medium, small and micro enterprises, as well as specialist artisans – SAFI provides practical support that helps manufacturers grow and compete. Its work includes skills development, accredited training programmes, market intelligence, export research, trade missions, strategic partnerships, business networking and improved access to local and international markets. SAFI also champions localisation, advocates for the industry and promotes South African furniture at major trade exhibitions both locally and abroad.
