Zizamele Ceramics started as a MAPPP-SETA sponsored learnership at the False Bay College, Noordhoek campus in 2006. The learnership consisted of an 18-month training and a 6 month Learn-and-Earn phase. During this period the trainees and their trainer, Toni Burton, designed and made products which were then marketed. They decided to call themselves Zizamele Ceramics – Zizamele meaning “to develop.”
