Talana Farm

Talana Farm is an area of land that is devoted to agricultural production with the primary objective of food production. Talana covers an area of 691 hectares (1,707 acres), with another 100 hectares having been leased from a neighboring farm for over 25 years.
It is engaged in livestock production (cattle and pigs), horticulture, commercial maize, seed maize, seed and commercial wheat production. The farm employs an average of 130 permanent workers with a varying number of seasonal workers. Production is all year round with irrigation during the dry season.

Talana Farm is engaged in horticulture exports with peas being the more established crop. Two pea varieties are exported, namely Sugar Snap Peas and Mange tout. In recent years, the farm has also ventured into the export of chillies and fine beans. Moreover, at the end of 2020, Talana Farm entered the highly capital-intensive blueberry sector.
Talana Farm has also been selected by PUM, through Zim Trade to be one of three Best Model Farms in the country. This will be focused on up-scaling internally and upskilling surrounding farmers in the region.

We have achieved Global GAP certification throughout the last decade and are working towards SMETA certification in 2021 as well.
