Why Indonesia Seaweed?

Indonesia produces more than 75% of global tropic seaweed and the industry is characterized by short supply chains and state-of-the-art processing units. This enables the processors of seaweed extracts to guarantee quality, traceability and supply whilst maintaining price stability. It makes Indonesia a key supplier of natural binding solutions to the food, cosmetic and personal care industry all over the world.
Indonesia has internationally operating processors who provide high quality hydrocolloids Agar and (semi-) refined Carrageenan
Compliance with international food safety standards with enhanced product traceability and low carbon footprint due to short supply chains. Price stability and social responsibility to the farmers and local communities
Located within a 10 degree range of the equator, the world’s largest archipelago ensures sustainable year round seaweed cultivation. At the heart of the raw material, the country has made the shift from exporting seaweed as raw material to exporting extracts like Agar and Carrageenan. It makes Indonesia the one-spot location for production and processing of seaweed.
The Indonesian seaweed industry provides solutions to worldwide economic, environmental and social challenges.
The seaweed extracts are essential binding and gelling agents for the food, cosmetic and personal care industry.
The large area of seaweed in Indonesian waters is a good source of CO2 absorbtion, generating positive environmental impact.
Seaweed farming is generating employment and binding fishing communities that would otherwise fall apart due to depleting fishing grounds.

Why Indonesia Essential Oil?

Essential oil exports from Indonesia to Europe are the second highest after China (excluding citrus and mint oils). The industry is dominated by large companies with few SME exporters. Supply chains for essential oils in Indonesia are generally long and complicated resulting in low traceability, low quality, and low reliability. This translates into high risk for international buyers. To solve this problem, CBI works with a specially selected group of SMEs and focuses on activities that increase quality, traceability, reliability, and CSR compliance. These highly desirable attributes should result in increased exports. CBI uses matchmaking and trade fair participation to promote these companies among the European fragrance and flavour industry.
